Creative Writing I

Lessons take place weekly or every other week. Every class starts with a recap of the writing exercises from the homework assignment. An in-class exercise loosens your creative muscles, after which writing theory is offered to help you write your story. Topics include plot, structure, setting, or the opening scene.

During the course, you work closely with your classmates. Your peers will look at your writing with careful consideration, but also from a point of understanding: they’re going through the same process. We expect you to contribute actively, so you not only receive but also provide feedback. You will learn a lot from this feedback cycle, after all, your peers will be your first readers. Count on the teacher to provide a safe environment, in which discussions are constructive and comments are given with care.

After class, you continue to work on your writing at home. Upload your assignments for your teacher and peers, and give and receive feedback in our online learning environment.
